The following requirements are only applicable to natural persons who wish to perform this work on a “pro bono” basis. In order to qualify, applicants that are Park Rangers from CONAF or Municipal Inspectors must indicate their field of work in the application to attend the training course for Recreational Fishing Inspectors.

Applicants must be:

  1. Over 21 years old.
  2. Chilean citizens or foreign citizens with permanent residency.
  3. Establish complete high school education.
  4. Demonstrate a physical condition that is compatible with the position.
  5. Demonstrate moral suitability.
  6. Demonstrate experience in recreational fishing. To this end, the applicant must pass a recreational fishing regulations exam.
  7. Hold a valid recreational fishing license.

Park rangers from CONAF and Municipal Inspectors must indicate that they are officers of such agencies in the application form to attend the training course for Recreational Fishing Inspectors organized in their respective institutions.

Application Procedure

The application period opens in March of each year. Applications must be submitted at the nearest National Fisheries Service, addressed to the National Fisheries Director, indicating the reasons the reasons to apply to the position, the place (region, provinces, and communes) where his/task will be performed and accompanied by the following documents:

  1. Police Record Certificate (up to 30 days from date of issuance).
  2. Two photographs, 3 -a 4 cm., including full name and id number.
  3. Sworn affidavit establishing absence of violations to recreational fishing regulations.
  4. Legal photocopy of high school education or college degree.
  5. Simple photocopy of recreational fishing license.
  6. Medical certificate.
  7. Certificate of achievement of fishing regulations Exam.

Training and Eligibility

  1. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant must attend a training course and pass an exam in April of each year, at a date to be established by the relevant Regional Fisheries Service.
  2. Training and Examinations shall be in writing and shall concern subject matters related to enforcement procedures and fishing regulations.
  3. In order to become eligible, the result of the exam must have a score equal or over 75%.
  4. Only those applicants who pass the exam shall be eligible.
  5. The documents shall be submitted to the Fisheries Service, along with the results of the exams and a regional report with any pertinent comments, within 15 days from the date of the exam.
